On September 5, the official opening of HortiTech’s new nursery in Honselersdijk took place. After the opening ceremony by Peet van Adrichem (HortiTech) and Leo van Adrichem (Metazet), the 1.6-hectare R&D center was officially put into use. Currently, peppers and tomatoes are being grown there, and in the future, this will be expanded to include various other plants and products. HortiTech built this nursery with a clear mission: to improve and innovate the cultivation process. By integrating the latest technologies and methodologies, HortiTech aims to gain and disseminate knowledge within the greenhouse industry. Before the construction of the greenhouse, training sessions were held at various locations at nurseries in the Westland and research projects were conducted at the World Horti Center. Now everything is coming together in one location, making the results directly applicable. The new nursery will serve as a research center for testing and validating innovative ideas. In addition, training will be provided to promote the transfer of knowledge into practice.
The initiative for this brand new, modern nursery came about in cooperation with Harmoniz and Metazet. Harmoniz is a vegetable breeding company specializing in fruit crops. HortiTech will assume responsibility for cultivation, allowing Harmoniz to concentrate on their specialization.
Another partner in this new greenhouse is Metazet. This company develops technical logistics systems to optimize cultivation processes. HortiTech will test Metazet’s innovative cultivation systems to push boundaries and shape the future of horticulture.
With the opening of this new nursery, HortiTech is taking an important step toward a sustainable and innovative future for the horticultural sector.
